CSA Overview

CSA OVERVIEW

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture and it’s a great way to support your local farmers and experience the local growing season. When you become a member of a CSA, you are purchasing “shares” of a farm’s harvest in advance and then receive a portion of the crops as they’re harvested. This helps farmers cover the up front costs necessary to sow and grow the produce, as well; it provides the farmer a guaranteed market. CSA members benefit by receiving fresh, local and nutrient dense produce and get the opportunity to connect with their community and get to know where their food comes from and how it’s grown.

What you can expect to enjoy in your CSA Basket

Each week you will receive fresh, organically grown, seasonal produce that we have sown, grown and harvested right here at Schoolhouse Farm. We are a first generation family farm, driven by the love and passion we have for preserving the earth, growing delicious nutrient dense foods and contributing to the health and betterment of our local community.

Part of the experience of CSA is the opportunity to try new produce you might not otherwise pick on your own. We love to cook and will share our favourite recipes on how use the produce you receive.

We currently grow a wide variety of veggies, herbs, flowers and some fruits. Some of our favourite staples are cucumbers, green beans, melons, leafy greens, squash, potatoes and of course our specialty, garlic!

At our farm stand pickup location, we provide CSA participants with a ‘swap box’. There will be an extra CSA box, which will allow you to exchange an item just in case you don’t like a particular vegetable.
